Cabling Designer and Estimator

An exciting and innovative company specialising in network & connectivity, safety & security and IoT. Your main focus would be the estimating and design of passive infrastructure solutions to support new and existing clients with their networking, security, data centre and IoT requirements.

The job role:

North is looking for an experienced Designer & Estimator to support Sales and Operations in planning, designing and driving new innovative infrastructure solutions and services for our clients. 

As technical design authority you will translate client business objectives and requirements into a solution, assessing and quantifying any risk associated with design decisions. 

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Write and produce quality design schematics, drawings, specifications, costing models, estimations.
• Act as technical authority on solutions and services working with strategic partners and vendors.
• Provide pre-sales support generating responses and working on major bids.
• Provide technical support and expertise at qualified client meetings with Sales team.
• Technical interface with relevant vendors and partners, maintaining partner certifications and accreditations.
• Propose commercial enhancements to responses and continual improvement of bid submission materials.
• Required to attend and conduct site surveys.

To be considered for this position, proven experience in a structured and fibre optic cabling environment with an excellent understanding particularly related to infrastructure solutions planning and design.  

As an experienced Designer & Estimator you should be creative, innovative, professional, flexible, and approachable with excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with key stakeholders including end users and tier 1 partners.  Strong consulting and problem-solving skills are paramount, as is the ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks whilst keeping calm under pressure.

Ideally qualified with an IT or Engineering degree, BICSI RCDD or CNET CNIDP accreditations along with certifications from leading manufacturers including CommScope, Corning and Panduit, Siemon, Leviton & Excel.

UK travel is an essential part of this role therefore a full, clean, valid UK driving licence is mandatory.

Ideally someone with an installation background to capture the necessary details from site surveys.
