Responsibilities

As Head of Operational Assurance you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, reporting to the CEO/ CPO and with a remit that extends across North.

 

You will be accountable for developing & embedding consistent Operational Assurance policies, controls and assurance frameworks thereby ensuring that North complies with Industry Best Practices and holds expected industry certifications. You will also provide the Executive Team with reports that demonstrate the level of operational & programme maturity across North as well as compliance status : this will achieved via a combination of external certification assessments, internal reporting, a programme of internal spot-checks and ad-hoc inspections.


The scope of the role includes

  • Managing & maintaining ISO certifications - ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO27001, ISO45001 and the processes that underpin these
  • Accountable for all matters relating to Health & Safety and ensuring company compliance with all legislative & regulatory requirements 
  • Managing & maintaining other professional & industry best operational practice certifications
  • Programme and Operational Risk & Issues Management
  • Data Protection
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Business Continuity
  • Continuous Improvement

The role will involve travelling to multiple locations, including a mix of in-house and outsourced locations.

 

You will also play an important role working with PMO teams across North to promote and embed a consistent set of best practices and templates. You will provide competent advice to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on all aspects of assurance arrangements and operational legislation and best practices (in particular relating to Health & Safety and sub-contractor management)

Qualifications

  • Experience with auditors; either relating to ISO certifications &/or Internal Audit
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of overseeing a diverse assurance function that meets the scope of this role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the relevant ISO standards and a demonstrable track record of successfully achieving / maintaining certifications.
  • Experience working in a multi-location technical installation project business that uses a mix of in-house and outsourced resources
  • Preferably Chartered membership of one or more relevant Professional Organisations: eg. chartered member of Institute of Risk Management, Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH), Institute of International Risk and Safety Management (CIIRSM), Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA)
  • Preferably a Lean Six Sigma qualified practitioner with proven experience in a leading role, successfully managing and motivating a team and working with diverse stakeholders with a track record of delivering customer focused services.
  • Credibility to influence change across the organisation and provide effective, visible leadership.
  • Highly developed organisational awareness, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
